History behind Odin Wolves
Odin's wolves are popular in norse mythology, and quite frankly are depicted in different ways through-out the mythological experience. Some depictions of them are more fierce while other's are more tamed. We decided to take a more tamed approach to our piece by focusing the furious expressions more so centered around the facial features.
Commonly known as Geri & Freki these names simply mean ravenous or the greedy one and refer to both of the wolves depicted in our carving. According to mythology these were the two wolf like creatures that were close to Odin and commonly accompanied him on his expeditions. Wolves were commonly seen as wise and fierce creatures and were used to learn lessons amongst the germanic tribes.
